The Darker Cities Trilogy
Historical Suspense you can reach out and touch...
About the Author
Eloise Reuben writes historical thrillers that pull you into the cobblestone streets and let you feel the grit beneath your fingernails — stories pulsing with suspense, mystery, and characters who refuse to leave you alone long after the final page.
A lover of old cities and the lives half-buried inside them, Eloise has always been drawn to the stories that don't make it into the textbooks. The slums, the underground networks, the women who survived impossible circumstances with nothing but their wits and their nerve. She holds a degree in creative writing and a master's in counselling, and both feed directly into her work. The storytelling instinct drives the plot, while the counselling knowledge shapes the undercurrent of her characters.
Well travelled and endlessly curious, Eloise draws deeply on research and place. She believes a story is only as alive as the world it inhabits. The smell of a Victorian street, the weight of a wool skirt on damp stone, and the particular silence before something goes terribly wrong — these are the details she chases.
An Australian now living in the United States, Eloise lives with her husband, daughter, and three thoroughly mischievous puppies. When she isn't writing, she's listening to true-crime podcasts, chasing thunderstorms, and attempting — with mixed results — to grow a herb garden.
